Will indoor tanning products give a glow without going on a sunbed?

The simple answer is no. You need to be exposed to UV light for these products to work.

How do these lotions work, is there any scientific backing behind them?

Yes! Bronzers and accelerators work slightly differently but they are designed to speed up or deepen the natural tanning process.

Accelerators: speed up the production of melanin in your skin. They work in the deeper skin layers.

Bronzers: ‘burst’ existing melanin pigments within the top skin layers, which results in a darker tan.

What’s better for me, bronzer or accelerator?

Accelerators are great if you are new to tanning, if you have very limited sun exposure or if you are struggling to deepen your tan. Ingredients such as L-Tyrosine stimulate the production of melanin in deeper skin layers.

Bronzers depending on their strength are suitable for any skin type. You can match even very fair complexion with a beautiful bronzing lotion which will give them a gentle glow. Or you can use a deepening bronzer which will deepen your tan fast.

Also you can get products which have a mix of both such as the Speed Bronzer by Magical Sun.

Can I use bronzers and accelerators on my face?

The skin on your face is very delicate and often it needs extra care. A lot of indoor tanning products can be too harsh. The best option would be to use products which are specifically designed with the delicate areas in mind such as Delicate Face lotion by Magical Sun.

Any tanning tips?

Exfoliate before your tanning session and after your sunbed session moisturise, moisturise and moisturise.

Do I need to be careful with the application of indoor tanning cosmetics? Can I go streaky?

Not with our range of Magical Sun and Extreme Tan products. Our cosmetics contain bronzers but these are not to be confused with fake tan.

Lastly, always remember to consult your local salon on what’s best for you. The best approach is to go slow as sunburn is not a good look!

So how do I know which one is better for me, bronzer or accelerator?

Accelerators are great if you are new to tanning, if you have very limited sun exposure or if you are struggling to deepen your tan. Ingredients such as L-Tyrosine stimulate the production of melanin in deeper skin layers.

Can I get a tan without using a sunbed lotion?

Yes. But did you know that it takes 5-6 minutes for UV rays to penetrate dry skin; and only 30 seconds when you are moisturised? Get the most out of your sunbed session and always use a lotion.
